Dr. Magun is my GI and is wonderful. His secretary, Eileen, is also fantastic and is a total gem! I was diagnosed with UC about 8 months ago following bleeding and feeling awful that my new internist dismissed as hemorrhoids without examining me. The colonoscopy was as uneventful as a colonoscopy can be- thanks, Dr. M!- and now we're working to quell the smoldering colitis (his words) that hasn't gone into remission yet. I have an appointment this week and always feel reassured by Dr. Magun's calm demeanor and desire to help me feel better without going out with guns blazing. He's genuinely a very kind and caring man.
4 different doctors at Columbia recommended Dr. Magun and one told me hands down he wouldn't want anyone else to perform a colonoscopy on him or his family members. I feel like that's the ultimate compliment- when a doctor's peers think that highly of him).
My GP recommended Dr. Magun a few years ago when u was in the midst of a long flair up and living too many miles away from my last doctor. Dr. Magun has been amazing and really gets the patient needs. He doesn't immediately go ballistic med with me and tries to keep me on the lowest doses until it appears that dosage isn't enough.
I went into a nearly 4 year remission and stopped all med and made no contact With him. The day I came back with a flare-up he immediately knew everything about my history and even asked if something caused me not to come back. He is familiar with my periodic dissappearances during remissions and never gives me a hard time.
He also isn't scope crazy and only does the cokonoscopy when needed. On several occasions he has changed my life and I am eternally grateful to him.
