I have seen several GI docs for my UC, but Dr. Sakuraba is the best. I travel from Indianapolis to see him in Chicago. I was frustrated with the over-booked/difficult to schedule doctors in Indianapolis. When you have a UC issue come up - it can't wait. Dr. Sakuraba is always reachable. I communicate with him via email and he always responds the same day. Through email, he will alter my meds/give advice or anything else I need between appointments. I am always able to get an appointment that works with my schedule, within the time frame that he needs to see me. Office staff is also easily reachable, pleasant, and prompt.
From what I've seen, University of Chicago Medicine has got the service aspect of healthcare down. It is also a very clean and updated hospital. (Indiana University Hospital in Indy is drab and dirty, terrible service, and just difficult to schedule - although they do have brilliant doctors - you just may not get to see them when you need to) Dr. Sakuraba is also so knowledgeable about new studies/updates in the UC world.
